                     Decimax 100 - 12v 100mm Recessed Light - 304 Stainless Steel - 3.0m Cable

The 240v 'Decimax 100' is a circular shaped recessed light with a 100mm diameter. and 5mm thick top plate. Made from 304 stainless steel, the Decimax will complement any modern environment. A hard protective sleeving adds to the durability of the fitting, further protecting the lower section of aluminium which will be mounted into brick (driveway or wall), decking or the ground. This also secures the fixing in place as it can be cemented into a wall or decking. The fitting itself then simply slots in and out of the casing, held in place by gripping teeth, making installation and changing the lamp even easier. Approximately 3m of cable is included for ease of installation.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match. Coloured filters are good to use with the LED bulbs too especially in winter using green filters give the appearance the trees are still in leaf.

Energy efficient lamps

Choosing the right lamp is a combination of 3 main factors, Lumen's, Kelvins and efficiency. Efficiency matters because you want the maximum light output possible (Lumen's ) from the minimum amounts of watts consumed. Kelvins are the colour temperature of the lamp. 2700k is the warm end of the colour spectrum and 5000k is the cooler whiter end of the colour spectrum. The latest LED technology lamps are amongst the most efficient you can buy today. An example would be to change a mains halogen GU10 35w lamp to a ECO friendly GU10 5w LED lamp.  Reduced energy bills with no loss of light output helps the environment and reduce your energy bills.

Installation

Please check the specification for dimensions before purchasing

All recessed luminaires must have adequate drainage beneath each fitting to allow water to dispersal, especially in clay based soil beds. All cable joint must be 100% watertight and there a number or waterproof transformer boxes and heat shrink cable joint kits on our web site to choose from. We would advise that all connections and transformer be kept above ground where possible as the weakest link in any exterior garden electrical installation is joining cables together. Magic gel should be used in the termination boxes to reduce the risk of water ingress.
Please ensure that your electrician is NIC EIC certified and has done exterior lighting installations before. Cut out 87mm.
