Pavo 316 Stainless Steel Eyelid Steplight - 12v G4 - Requires lamp (bulb)

The Pavo surface-mount 12v steplights with frosted lens will illuminate steps where wall material doesn’t lend itself to recessed lighting, such as dry stone walls or deck board surrounds. Pavo uses a 12v G4 3w LED low energy LED lamp with output similar to a 20w halogen lamp. Pavo with eyelid is preferred where soft downward lighting is required over steps or around a terrace, and has been used to provide diffused lighting from pergola beams. Pavo has a 1.5m cable fitted, usually for connection to a cable from a transformer or power supply with a T9962 cable joint kit or T9962 cable splice kit.

A guide to lighting steps

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.

Installation

The installation should be carried out by a NIC EIC electrical contractor who has experience in installing exterior lighting products.  the weakest part of an installation is where the cable joints are made. All joints need to be 100% watertight and joined by either heat shrink kits or waterproof enclosure boxes which can then be filled with magic gel solution.
