QUADMARKA 240V 4 WAY IN GROUND STEP LIGHT 316 STAINLESS STEEL

The QuadMarka is a 240v 4 way recessed light ideal for edging and highlighting areas of the garden such as decking, steps, patio areas, and even driveways. It can be mounted directly into the ground, or into materials including wood, brick, slabs and walls. Made from 316 stainless steel (marine grade), it is highly durable with a strong resistance to pitting and rusting, even in particularly damp surroundings. The top of this multi directional light is segmented into four conical sections allowing 360ยบ diffusion of light through a clear lens, without glare. The slightly domed surface makes this the ideal shape for mounting on decking, edge of a driveway, a patio or any other areas where a walk over facility is required but not to be driven over. The front bezel attaches to the steel body with a simple screwing method. This means no tools are required. in order to change the lamp. We recommend the use of a LED GU10 with the QuadMarka.

The robust black plastic sleeve will be built into the wall during construction or retrofitted into a hole. The main part of the light then pushes into the tube, where it is held firmly in place by internal gripping ‘teeth’ (see detailed image), just showing the streamline front dome.

The QuadMarka is supplied with approx. 3m of 3 core H05RNF cable. This longer cable length gives the option of a 6m space between two lights should it be needed, and could cut down the number of cable joins in outdoor lighting installation. Light can also be spread to a wider area with longer cable length.

Please note: This fitting must be installed with the mounting sleeve and additional rubber seal. If the sleeving and seal is not used, the Guarantee will be void. Not for use in areas prone to water-logging or flooding.

CARE OF STAINLESS STEEL – TIPS

Contrary to popular belief, Stainless steel needs looking after; especially in exposed and coastal areas. If not cleaning on a regular basis, the acid that is ever present in the air ( and salt in coastal areas) will affect the surface causing pitting and even rust like staining (known as ‘Tea staining’ ) to appear.

To keep your lights looking good, simply wipe clean the outside with a damp cloth and then dry once a month, (more frequently in coastal areas). Specialist stainless steel cleaning products can be used (We recommend and stock ‘Kilrock stainless steel cleaner’) but never use an ABRASIVE cleaner. In extreme conditions we recommend applying 2 coats of Clear lacquer to protect the steel surface. (We recommend and stock ‘Simoniz’ clear lacquer).

 240v IN-GROUND LIGHTS

240v fittings can be affected by damp conditions, typically when located outdoors. When a fitting is located outside in the cold air combined with the heat produced by the lamp inside, it is inevitable that condensation will occur, just as it does on bedroom windows in the home. If too much condensation is produced, this could result in the fitting tripping, especially in these types of fittings where a drainage hole is not possible. To combat this, we include silica gel with all  Duomarka 240v in-ground lights to soak up any excess moisture – these should not be removed but replaced periodically and fittings checked. If any water is sitting in the fitting, this should be tipped out and the fitting safely dried out. Condensation can be more prominent when the fitting has been opened on a damp day, as the damp air will then be trapped inside when re-sealed. Therefore it is recommended that any maintenance, including changing bulbs, is performed on a dry day. An additional practice to be put in place is to apply Lithium Grease to the bulb holder / bulb which acts as an additional seal to prevent tripping. Although this prevents tripping, the fittings will still need to be checked and dried out should water sit inside the fitting. For extra protection, the Duomarka can also be filled with Wiska Gel (electrical insulation).

Please follow the installation instructions from the download tab shown under the images above.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.
