Slatlite 12V Garden Step Light - Surface Mount - Brass (Bronze Finish)

he solid brass Slatlite garden Steplight is a versatile 12v surface mount light with an elegant rustic bronze finish, suitable for garden step lighting, decking and walls next to steps. The louvered design creates a more subtle light than a full spotlight, shining the light downwards at an angle. A mirrored reflector and frosted glass lens inside diffuse the light outwards evenly and without glare. The extra durable Slatlite is robust and stylish, with a high IP rating of IP54. Three small brass screws simply fix the front part to the back plate. An LED G4 capsule is highly recommended for use with the Slatlite, using less energy than a halogen and lasting well over ten times longer. A Cool White or Warm White LED G4 can be selected below if required.

The Slatlite forms part of the VERSA Plug & Play Range. For ease of installation, the 12v Slatlite is complete with a 2 pin plug which plugs directly into a 12v Transformer, or any Versa connectors, meaning no wiring is required. If the plug is not required then this can simply be cut off and the wire stripped to create a normal connection via a junction box. VERSA Plug & Play connectors are also compatible with other plug and play systems such as Techmar and Lighting for Gardens.

The LED G4 capsule bulbs will work with a normal 12v A/C transformer. A special LED "driver" is not required unlike some other versions on the market.

                                                       Colour Temperature chart

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.

Example of energy efficient lamps

Choosing the right lamp is a combination of 3 main factors, Lumen's, Kelvins and efficiency. Efficiency matters because you want the maximum light output possible (Lumen's ) from the minimum amounts of watts consumed. The latest LED lamps will reduce energy bills with no loss of light output and helps the environment too.
