Smart spike 60, mains 240v, GU10, solid copper

The Smartspike 60 copper spike light is a stylish quality built fully adjustable spot light, ideal for use in any garden or outdoor space to highlight, plants, trees or statues. The high quality solid copper body provides added durability to this IP65 outdoor spot light. As natural weathering proceeds, the metal exposed to the atmosphere changes in hue from the natural salmon pink colour through a series of russet brown shades to light and dark chocolate browns and this process is called Patina.

Four alternative colour finishes of the Smartspike 60 are also available: Black, Stainless Steel and Satin Silver.

This fitting uses ECO friendly LED GU10 lamps which offer energy savings over the traditional halogen GU10 lamps and are also cool to touch and safe around children. Warm white and cool white are available and the cool white works well when illuminating shrubs and trees where as the warm white works better on brickwork and wood.

This Smartspike 60 is supplied with approx. 2m of 3 core H05RNF cable but is also available in a 5m cable option. This longer cable length gives the option of a 10m space between two lights should it be needed, and could cut down the number of cable joins in outdoor lighting installation. Light can also be spread to a wider area with longer cable length.

Please try and make all terminations above ground where there is less chance of water ingress. All installations should be done by a NIC EIC electrical contractor to ensure a safe and 100% water tight installation. Waterproof joint kits and boxes are available from our web site.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvin. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvin’s which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvin’s would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften skin tones and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used in offices or in fast food restaurants to make you feel less comfortable, relaxed and more alert. There’s nothing that can sour your opinion of a LED lamp like buying a 4000K or 5000K bulb when you meant to buy a 2700K bulb, or vice-versa. When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.  Coloured filters are good to use with the LED bulbs too especially in winter using green filters give the appearance the trees are still in leaf.
