The Smartspike 60 is a stylish 60mm diameter spotlight with a 250mm (approx.) spike, fantastic for any garden or outdoor space. There are many different applications for this versatile landscape light. Directly uplight small trees, features or statues, or mount in areas of planting to bring elegant illumination to a general area. An extra 250mm extension rod is available to instantly add height to this garden spotlight, making it ideal for use in areas of taller planting.
Outdoor lighting crafted from solid brass is naturally robust and durable (IP65), and due to the antique 'rustic bronze' finish, blends in beautifully with the colours and textures of natural surroundings. Each solid brass spikelight has a decorative bespoke feel, with darker and lighter elements of the rustic finish appearing in slightly different areas and patterns. This adds to their classic, high-end quality.
These solid brass garden spike lights accommodate replaceable LED GU10 bulbs which will last for a very long time compared with halogen lamps, meaning less maintenance, less cost and more reliability. The LED GU10 bulbs are available in warm or cool white in two different beam angles, so that you have more choice over the desired lighting effects in your own garden.
The Smartspike 60 is supplied with either 2m or 5m of 3 core H05RNF cable (approx.). The longer cable length means larger spaces can be left between each fitting when installing and also means less cable joints.
A number of alternative finishes are available, including Stainless Steel, Copper, Satin Silver and Black, as well as twin spike lights and a 12v version.
Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only
as good as the installation as the weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100%
water tight and this can be done using IP68 inline connectors, waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a resin
mix or magic gel. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. Always use Rubber SWA cabling and not PVC.
All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this web site.
The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften skin tones and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used in offices or at fast food restaurants to make you feel less comfortable and relaxed and feel more alert. There’s nothing that can sour your opinion of an LED lamp like buying a 4000K or 5000K bulb when you meant to buy a 2700K bulb, or vice-versa. When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match. Coloured filters are good to use with the LED bulbs too especially in winter using green filters give the appearance the trees are still in leaf.
