This traditional brass 12v plug & play garden Spreadlight has an elegant rustic bronze finish and is ideal for lighting edging, pathways and flower beds in the garden. The light emitted is ‘spread’ downwards in a pool of light with no ‘upwards’ light pollution. Due to the wide angle of the large shade, the light emitted is spread over approx. 100º. The underside of the shade has a white powder coated finish which greatly enhances and reflects the light downwards and outwards. Height 645mm.
This VERSA plug & play 12v path light couldn’t be simpler to install. The 4.5m cable supplied is capped with a 2 pin plug which simply plugs directly into a transformer (or splitter if multiple fittings are installed), the transformer plugs into a mains socket and it is ready to go.
This large brass spreadlight design is supplied complete with a large, 4 fin polycarbonate ground spike with anchor, for
easy and extra stable mounting into soft ground. The low voltage G4 LED, available from Lumena, is the ideal replacement
for 12v halogen G4 lamps, lasting longer and reducing the amount of energy consumed. The lamp is housed in a clear, protective
diffuser which the shade simply screws onto.
Charleston Modular Mounting
Charleston spot lights and spread lights use the same size thread stem (0.75 inches) which makes them extremely versatile when considering mounting options. Try replacing the polycarbonate spike with a solid brass spike, or alternatively use the Charleston Brass Bass to surface mount the spread light on any virtually flat surface. All mounting accessories sold separately.
The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften skin tones and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used in offices or a fast food restaurants to make you feel less comfortable and relaxed and more alert. There’s nothing that can sour your opinion of a compact fluorescent or LED lamp like buying a 4000K or 5000K bulb when you meant to buy a 2700K bulb, or vice-versa. When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light. Care must be taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest fitting to avoid any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings. We recommend wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they should always be wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and play junction boxes, connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement. These Plug and Play fittings should only be used for small domestic projects due to voltage drop over 5 metres.
