Elipta, compact garden wall up / down light, copper, mains 240v, GU10, max 35w

The E4422 Elipta Compact up/down light is a 240v wall or post mount model for fixed up/down lighting and grazing applications to create stylish wall illumination effects. 240v models utilise GU10 LED lamps which means there is no need for a bulky transformer base and they fit mains wiring points on house walls and pillars. 5w LED lamps in a warm white colour temperature may be needed to create a powerful effect on darker stone and brick walls, whereas a 5w cool white colour temperature are usually ideal for up/down lighting on lighter, rendered or stone walls. It has flush lenses which shed water and dirt and are easy to clean. Natural copper weathers to a mottled brown finish which blends well with red brick and timber.

All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating which is explained further in our design ideas section but in simple terms the IP rating is appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation as the weakest point is always cable joints or the use of the wrong mains cabling.  Only user Rubber SWA and not PVC.  All joints must be made 100% water tight and this can be done using IP68 inline connectors and waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a resin or gel mix.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.
