Compact spike light, Copper, mains 240v, GU10, IP65

The E4122N LED spotlight is a fully adjustable 240v garden spike spot - an ideal LED uplight for garden features and small trees. Natural copper weathers to a mottled brown finish which blends well with woody planting, bark mulch and gravel. 240v models utilise GU10 lamps negating the need for a transformer. LED ground spike spotlight fitted with a flush glass lens to prevent water accumulation, a longer body to shield the lamp from view leaving sufficient space for glare louvres, clip on lens and dichroic filters. Choose a 3w or 5w warm white LED lamp to uplight pergola columns to completely change the ambience of your garden at night.

240v Spike spotlights need their own circuit from an existing or new fuse box. The box must be protected by a residual current device (RCD) and controlled with a double-pole isolating switch. As a general rule of thumb, the armoured cables need to be run underground- at least 450mm with weatherproof junction boxes. Use an electrician qualified under 'Part P' building regulations to install any mains electricity outdoors who will certify the work properly.

The spotlight body is made from solid metal tube and is mounted on an adjustable knuckle joint and 25cm round rod mounting spike. Unscrewing the front bezel makes it easy to change the lamp without tools.

2 metres of 3 core cable fitted for connection into a weatherproof junction box.

Using a single RCD for large numbers of 240v fittings is not recommended due to the risk of nuisance tripping. We advise the use of separate RCD protection for each circuit and a maximum of 12 fittings per RCD. Where a garden lighting installation of more than 12 spike mount or recessed lights per circuit is proposed, we suggest the installation of 12v units with transformers, which results in a significantly higher fault tolerance and reliability in the total installation.

The exterior dimensions are 111mm x 63mm not including 250mm spike.

Comes pre-wired with  2m of 3 core rubber cabling.

Maximum size of GU10 72mm length not including pins.

Beam distribution 15 degrees to 120 degrees.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.

Installation

All exterior lighting products on our website have an IP rating which is explained further in our design ideas section but in simple terms the IP rating is appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation as the weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% water tight and this can be done using IP68 inline connectors, waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a resin or gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay based soil areas
