The black anodised finish gives a stunning designer look at an affordable price. This premium range of exterior lights offers the best in design and luxury.
There are a number of light fittings available in the wall light section including a fully adjustable wall spot light and a fixed down light which is ideal to illuminate pathways and shrubs when fixed to a fence post.
The up and down light is a 240v wall or post mount model for fixed up / down lighting and grazing applications to create stylish wall illumination effects. 240v models utilize GU10 halogen lamps which means there is no need for a bulky transformer base and they fit mains wiring points on house walls and pillars.
35w lamps may be needed to create a powerful effect on darker stone and brick walls, whereas 20 watt lamps are usually ideal for up / down lighting on lighter, rendered or stone walls.
A 3w led module provides a long life, low energy option for lighting smaller subjects, while 7w - 11w compact fluorescent lamps provide a broader wash of light, including an 11w dimmable model.
It has flush lenses which shed water and dirt and are easy to clean. Black powder-coated aluminium is a traditional recessive colour choice for garden settings
All outdoor lighting should be installed by a qualified NIC EIC certified electrician to ensure a safe and water tight installation.
Care must be taken when installing exterior lighting products especially those that are ground mounted. All the products are sold and tested fit for purpose and the IP rating is set according to the design and purpose of the luminaire, more details on IP ratings can be found under design ideas section. The weakest point is generally the installation of the product where adequate drainage has not been made for ground buried lights or poor cable joints have been made which are not 100% water tight and will allow for water penetration. There are a number of waterproof enclosures available on this site along with heat shrink cable joint kits and resin gel packs to fill the junction boxes to make a watertight enclosure. Where possible try and keep all joints and transformers above ground, however if this is not possible there are potted burial kits available.
Lamp colour is determined by the Kelvins and a lamp which is 2700 kelvin is classed as warm white and sympathetic to skin tones and warm brickwork. A kelvin of 6500k is in the blueish white spectrum and works well against a white background and will appear brighter to the naked eye than the warm colour spectrum.
All lamps have a lumen number and the higher the lumen number the brighter the lamp, however colour of the lamp (kelvins ) also comes in to play here as a whiter lamp at 6,000 kelvins and above would always appear brighter to the naked eye than a warmer colour lamp at the 2,700 kelvins light spectrum even if it has the same lumen output. A halogen 150w R7 lamp that is used in a standard garden security flood light would produce around 2,300 lumens and a 26w compact fluorescent would produce around 1,800 lumens. Placing lights closer to the item to be illuminated is a good way of using a lower lumen lamp rather than trying to flood light a big area.
