The images helps to illustrate how natural copper products weather and turn to a mottled brown colour when exposed to an outdoor environment

till throw a decent amount of light on to the required area. Can be used with an MR11 LED lamp which then becomes safe to touch and child friendly.

Tubular metal spotlight body is mounted on an adjustable knuckle joint and 15cm round-rod mounting spike. Unscrewing the front bezel makes it easy to extract and change the lamp without tools.

1.5 metre of cable fitted. Order T9962 cable joint kit for connection of 12v model to low voltage cable from a garden lighting transformer. Wire spike spotlights to transformer with 2.5mm² ground burial 2 core low voltage cable available in 50m (T9912) or 25m (T9913) packs: use T9910 4mm² cable for longer runs.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour                    temperature to match.

Installation 12v

Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light.  Care must be taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest fitting to avoid any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings. We recommend wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they should always be wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and play junction boxes, connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement.

All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this web site.
