The ‘Pergolux’ is a beautiful plug and play hanging light with a protective clear 60mm tempered glass lens. This fixed lens at the end of the cylindrical body makes the hanging garden spotlight more weatherproof (IP65) than many others available. It is therefore ideal for anywhere in the garden where light is required from above. This includes seating areas, tree branches or BBQ areas. Once illuminated, the hanging spotlight provides a beam that disperses outwards and downwards.
The Pergolux also looks great as an ornamental landscape light during daylight hours. Garden lights in Natural Copper will weather organically over time to ‘mottle’ and blend in with outdoor materials such as brick, plants and tree bark. After longer periods of time a ‘verdigris’ effect may be present.
We recommend an LED bulb to reduce running and maintenance costs helped by the bulb’s long lifespan and low wattage. The LED MR16 can be fitted / replaced easily if ever required by unscrewing the one screw at the top of the cylindrical body. The ‘Pergolux’ 12v garden light looks fantastic once illuminated, providing a spotlight beam that disperses outwards and downwards as the light hangs.
For instant colour, a removable dichroic lens will fit inside the light.
Landscape lighting installation is easier with this hanging garden light as a handy 5m of waterproof cable is supplied. This means less cable joins and more choice on the position of the light fitting. The hanging ring at the top of the light is usable with a length of chain.
This new Pergolux forms part of the Plug & Play Range. For ease of installation, a 2 pin adaptor plugs directly into a compatible Plug & Play Transformer, or any Versa connectors, meaning no wiring is required.
The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins
which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting
the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften skin tones and gives
a warm soft relaxed feel and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used in
offices or at fast food restaurants to make you feel less comfortable and relaxed and feel more alert. There’s nothing
that can sour your opinion of a compact fluorescent or LED lamp like buying a 4000K or 5000K bulb when you meant
to buy a 2700K bulb, or vice-versa. When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme
in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match.
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light. Care must be taken with the cable runs and not to install transformers more than 30 metres away from the furthest fitting to avoid any voltage drop. Cabling should be 2 core Rubber HO5RN-F or HO7RN-F and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over time especially with UV degradation. Always check the correct type of transformer you need for your fittings. We recommend wiring in parallel with Toroidal AC and LED DC drivers. But when using Milliamp mA LED drivers, they should always be wired in series. Plug and Play kits are simply a case of daisy chaining the fittings via plug and play junction boxes, connectors and extension cables using a 2-pin plug arrangement. These Plug and Play fittings should only be used for small domestic projects due to voltage drop over 5 metres.
