Pillar, IP65, 50W Mains GU10, 304 stainless steel

The Pillar Round IP67 buried uplight has a hard wearing stainless steel construction and glass diffuser, it is built to last and is tough enough to be suitable for walkover only. 304 stainless steel is advised for properties outside 20 km of a coast line, a 316 marine grade stainless steel would be required if within 20 km of the coast.

A budget fitting but very popular and good value for money.

Can be used as a marker light on a pathway or as an up-lighter in decking areas close to the property and shrubs and small trees when using high lumen output LED GU10 light bulbs in excess of 500 lumens.

LED lamps are available and will create a subtle beam of good illumination to the area you wish to uplight.  LED lamps have a long life, use minimal electricity and are cool to touch, making them safe around children.

Please check the specification for dimensions before purchasing.

It is important that adequate drainage is allowed for when installing this type of product especially in clay based soil beds.
A NIC EIC electrical contractor should be used to ensure a 100% water tight installation. There are resin kits, magic gel and heat shrink kits available from us to help make the perfect waterproof joints.

Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating which is explained further in our design ideas section but in simple terms the IP rating is appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation as the weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% water tight and this can be done using heat shrink kits, waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a resin mix or magic gel. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay based soil areas

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 6,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 6,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match. Coloured filters are good to use with the LED bulbs too especially in winter using green filters give the appearance the trees are still in leaf.
