The Stelled has a more stylish appearance than many other commercial style bollards, made from 3mm thick marine grade stainless steel which has been polished by hand. This makes it ideal for use in more homely areas such as garden seating areas and driveways, as well amenity lighting for larger, commercial or public areas, including car parks, lakes, golf courses etc, where a high level of light is required. A specially designed head allows extra room for a large 20W LED corn bulb with an incredibly high lumen output (brightness), which is supplied as standard with each bollard, ideal for use with most PIR and Photocell systems.
Each bollard is supplied complete with a removable internal mounting base as standard, which can be mounted onto any flat surface or used alongside the supplied root mount J-Bolts. Expanding achor bolts are also available. Alternatively, a Professional Root Mounting System is available
A clear, UV stop polycarbonate diffuser surrounds the majority of the head (spares available) and silver aluminium internal louvres add character to the bollard as well as acting as anti-glare shields / protecting the LED bulb. All external screws are allen (socket) type made from stainless steel, resulting in a completely rustproof and non-corrosive product.
How far apart should bollards be mounted?
The distance between bollards will vary depending on what light output the bulbs used have, what sort of area is being lit and how much light is required. Below are some guidelines to determine how many bollards may be required for your project based on our recommended bulbs, providing a constant light between each fitting:
Choosing the style of a product is only part of the equation you must also think of where that product will be used and how it will be installed. All exterior lighting products on our web site have an IP rating appropriate to each light fitting and its intended application and is therefore fit for purpose. Water ingress is the enemy for outdoor lighting and the products supplied are only as good as the installation. The weakest point is always cable joints. All joints must be made 100% watertight and this can be done using IP68 cable connectors and/or waterproof junction boxes which are then filled with a re-enterable liquid gel mix. All joints where possible should be made above ground for easy access and reduced water ingress. When installing ground buried lights adequate drainage systems should be put in place especially in clay-based soil areas. If possible, use ground surface spike lights rather than a buried light. Mains 240v cable will have less joints than a low voltage installation but care must be taken with the cable runs. Cabling should be Rubber Butyl and not PVC. PVC leads to capillary action over time especially with UV degradation.
All exterior lights must be installed by a certified NIC EIC electrician and should be signed off by an electrician with Part P certification. There are a selection of waterproof jointing kits and boxes available on this web site.
