Odyssey, 304 stainless steel, up and down wall light, IP65, 2 x 7w Max GU10

The Odyssey range of garden lights gives a stunning designer look at an affordable price. This premium range of solid stainless steel exterior lighting offers the best in design and luxury. There are a number of light fittings available in the odyssey range including a fully adjustable wall spot light and a fixed down light which is ideal to illuminate pathways and shrubs when fixed to a fence post. The circular wall fixture is 63mm diameter.

The Odyssey Compact up / down garden light is a 240v wall or post mount model for fixed up / down lighting and glazing applications to create stylish wall illumination effects. Mains 240v GU10 fittings means there is no need for a bulky transformer base so they fit mains wiring points on house walls and pillars. 5w LED lamps are powerful enough with a range of lumen outputs, colour temperatures and beam angles to provide the perfect setting and illumination.

Lamp colour is denoted in Kelvins and the lower the number the warmer the lamp for example 2700k is warm white and 5000k would be a cool white. A 36 degree beam angle would provide a spot to medium beam, a 60 degree beam angle would provide a medium to wide beam and 90 degree beam angle would provide a flood beam.

All outdoor lighting should be installed by a certified PART P,  NIC EIC electrical contractor to ensure a safe and water tight installation.

Lamp colour ( Kelvins )

The colour of a lamp is defined as a measurement called kelvins. A standard GLS light bulb in your house would be 2,700 kelvins which is in the warm colour spectrum and a lamp with 5,000 kelvins would be at the very cold white spectrum. Getting the right colour temperature of a lamp does matter as the warm colour wavelength helps to soften the tone of the area and gives a warm soft relaxed feel and ideal for colourful flower beds and rockery areas especially with wooden bark and at the other end of the scale a 4,000 to 5,000 kelvin lamp colour would be used against a light background such as white walls or to accentuate grey blueish foliage in shrubs and small trees.  When you buy a new, energy efficient bulb, keep your application and colour scheme in mind and make sure to buy the bulb with a colour temperature to match. Coloured filters are good to use with the LED bulbs too especially in winter using green filters give the appearance the trees are still in leaf.

Example of Energy efficient LED lamps

Choosing the right lamp is a combination of 3 main factors, Lumens, Kelvins and efficiency. Efficiency matters because you want the maximum light output possible (Lumens) from the minimum amounts of watts consumed. Kelvins are the colour temperature of the lamp. 2700k is the warm end of the colour spectrum and 5000k is the cooler whiter end of the colour spectrum. The latest LED technology  lamps are amongst the most efficient you can buy today. An example would be to change a mains halogen GU10 35w lamp to a ECO friendly GU10 5w LED lamp.  Reduced energy bills with no loss of light output helps the environment and reduce your energy bills.
