Garden pole or spike lights are our most popular type of garden light fitting and available in 240v mains GU10 and also 12v low voltage MR16. Both are available to use with low energy LED lamps and LED transformer kits for exterior use. Exterior spike lights are the most flexible style of light and can be used for a variety of situations. Place a spike light close to steps to light them up. Installing a purpose designed step light in to brick work is a lot of work and a spike light can offer a cheaper and just as effective solution. With a fully adjustable head for tilt and rotation they are ideal to illuminate trees and items of interest in the garden. They can also be used near water features and place a coloured lamp in the fitting for a more dramatic lighting effect. Many have glare shield attachments to reduce direct glare from the lamp source. A number of finishes and optional accessories are also available for most spike from copper and brass that will blend naturally in to the garden environment to stainless steel and coloured power coated finishes.
Where possible we try to advise clients to keep all lighting and transformers above ground to reduce the risk of water ingress. Spike lights offer a good solution to problem soil areas where drainage is not ideal like clay based soil. The installation is only as good as the installer and we recommend you use a NIC EIC qualified installer who has experience of exterior lighting installations.
